How Knockaround crew do their things with some advice by QFC. Work, Play and Shades On..

Knockaround, a San Diego based sunglasses and style accessories company, first contacted QualityFirst Commercial around April of 2012 after receiving a referral from one of QFC's long-term clients, Adrenaline Lacrosse. Excited about the opportunity to work with another creative lifestyle brand, Steven Martini and Barrett Geenen wasted no time getting down to business.

"We first met Ace, CEO of Knockaround, and his partner Regan, the best table tennis player in San Diego, at a cool little bar in South Bay called Stoney's," explains Martini. "They were coming out of a standard flex type space in National City and were looking for something fun and creative for their employees. Since Knockaround does a lot of promotion with the San Diego Padres we suggested looking at space in the East Village, and they were into it from the start."

Recognizing not only the uniqueness of Knockaround's product, but the artistic, creative vibe of the company as a whole, Martini and Geenen knew they had to take a step outside the box. In addition to looking at a few standard office spaces, they also showed them several off the market opportunities; one of which Ace and Regan decided they just couldn't pass up on.

"We spent the next couple of months hammering out a great deal -- which they are extremely happy with," says Geenen. "It was a process, but at the end of the day they ended up with a really cool, one of a kind space that very few brokers in San Diego could have delivered, and we had a lot of fun along the way."

Knockaround's new home, located at 2001 Commercial Street, features exposed truss ceilings, original hardwood floors and a large mid-century modern office component. Oh -- and a cool roof top garage and open deck area that they now use for photo shoots and parties.
